Like a lighthouse welcomes me to shore, Rockmeadow guides me home. I spend every Friday morning at this magical place – “magical” being the word my aunt uses to describe the new home, and quite frankly, it is the most fitting word. This is the former home of Richard Rodgers (1902-1979), and as the engraved plaque at the entrance reminds us, he was America’s iconic Broadway composer, and he made his home here at Rockmeadow for many years. Rodgers composed some of the most beloved songs and musicals of all time, including Carousel, Flower Drum Song, Oklahoma, Kind & I, and Sound of Music. If it’s not magic flowing through the halls of this home, I don’t know what it could be.
