Family Birthday Party in 1904

Family Birthday Party in 1904– taken at Villa Nougués, in San Isidro de Lules, Argentina.

Up the slender road to the small town, dodging speeding cars heading down the mountain side, and past a hostel hosting a Saturday wedding celebration, we made it to Villa Nougués for a family birthday party. This villa has been around since before the 1900’s, and is filled with more history than cobwebs. The area, first used by the Jesuits in the 1700’s, was taken over by the Nougués family right before the end of the 19th century, and by 1904 the whole family has villas and farm land throughout. Founders of local universities, governors of the city itself, and many other ridiculous accomplishments, this family was the family to be. This villa, now owned by a family friend for almost two decades, was the location for our birthday party… drinking whiskey, popping champagne, and downing beers. This family was the family to be.
